Halloween is just around the corner and that means it's time for us to watch some horror anime! Animation may not be as content-intimidating as real-life or still images, but there are plenty of shows that create densely populated and tumultuous worlds or delve into the depths of horror psychology through dialogue. And atmosphere, so let's take a look at our five favorites today. Prepare to be spooky.
1. Monster
Although Devilman: Crybaby is an instant classic (which happens to be based on a fact-proven classic), we have to dedicate number one to Naoki Urasawa's masterpiece Monsters as it goes. deep into the mind of a serial killer and morally contradictory surgeon who risked his reputation to save his life years ago and is now determined to put an end to it.
At 74 episodes, Monster is certainly a serious commitment to timing, but this series is adept at exploring how anyone can be a monster and morals it's all just gray. For a horror anime that makes you question your own existence, it's hard to go wrong with this.
2. Devilman: Crybaby
How about an anime with ghost images, xenophobic themes, and mind games all rolled into one? Here's Devilman: Crybaby, an updated 1972 remake of legendary author Go Nagai's 1972 manga that we could talk about for hours if given the chance. But in short, it's the story of Akira Fudo, a frail but compassionate teenager whose mysterious best friend Ryo Asuka decides that the best way to defeat the growing threat of demons is turns Akira into a demon. It quickly escalated from there to panic and paranoia around the world, largely driven by social media and deliberately manipulated broadcasts. Just be warned - this program is not for the faint of heart!
3. Yakusoku no Neverland
Grace Field House seems like a cozy little orphanage where the kids and their "Mama" form a loving temporary family together. However, the numbers tattooed on the kids' necks and their rigorous intelligence tests using futuristic devices made the entire system seem shut off ... not to mention those The adopted child never sends any letters ...
As it turns out, the orphanage's purpose is much more cruel and three of the smartest kids must find a way to defeat their cunning Mama to get rid of their lives (and hopefully even siblings their sister). This chilling battle of mind was barely bloody but it instilled fear into people's hearts nonetheless.
4. Shiki
Japan has a distinct problem with xenophobia, and as a result, horror psychological anime likes to explore this issue deeply. Shiki starts off as a relatively standard monster hunting program, where upright humans defeat evil vampires (known as "shiki") that are terrorizing each of their villages, but soon it becomes apparent. that the shiki are just trying to survive like everyone else.
Though countless deaths for both sides can be avoided if the two groups really make an effort to understand each other, the overwhelming fear of strangers leaves them locked in an endless cycle of bloodshed. If you love shows like Parasyte or Tokyo Ghoul, give it a try!
5. Dorohedoro
Dorohedoro's story is actually closer to a black comedy than anything, but its world steeped in hellish imagery and unjustified violence perfectly fits the Halloween spirit (especially episodes is set during the Green Night Festival). It's all about Kaiman, a man trying to find a witch who has cursed him with dementia and a lizard head, and his jovial friend Nikaido who looks like her. There is something to hide.
The filthy dieselpunk city they live in is awash with paranormal influence, and the torturing wizards see the beheading and the worship of demons as the mundane truths of life. It's certainly a quirky show, but you won't be able to forget it anytime soon.
Conclusion
Tokyo Ghoul, Paprika, Gantz, King's Game, Elfen Lied and Jujutsu Kaisen of this season are also great movies to watch at this time of year and you can find even more recommendations in previous versions of the list is below.
